Oleksa Obriy Piano – Bells of 1933

Every last Saturday of November in Ukraine and worldwide is devoted to the memory of up to 10 millions victims of artificial starvation by Holodomor (”zamoreni” ) organized and brutally implemented by USSR under dictator Stalin.

This day of mourning was imported to Ukraine from Canada and USA - thanks to diaspora…

Genetic fear of Moscow after 1933 was so strong in Ukraine that even today it is very real and powerful …

This is why it is only after more then 15 years since collapse of Soviet Union…with help of Orange revolution and personal efforts of Ukrainian president Yuzhtenko finally Ukraine adopted this day as National Remembrance Day for victims of Holodomor’33…

Before 1991 this topic was absolute taboo…any public speaking about this tragedy was criminal offense in Soviet Ukraine…KGB will jump on you like angry crazy dogs if you try…

My father Oleksiy was only just over 10 years old at that time, son of poor farmer where butter was a luxury …not daily food.
Even in his 63 he was not able to control his tears that was visible every time when he was talking about this soviet hell on the earth in 1933 …at age 10 without parents and with the only future that Soviets set up for him and millions other kids is to starve to death for the glory of barbaric Dzhugashvili (Stalin).

This piano tribute reflects some of deep sadness for most vulnerable that was forced to starve and vanish without trace …and anger - how it can be that in most rich land in the world - ‘bread basket’ of Europe , such crimes against humanity was possible, and was mostly ignored for so long ?

May be this 21 century Mankind will be able finally to find the way to prevent such tragedy in the future…when human rights will be universal for everyone living on planet Earth not just for minority bunch of lucky ones living in G7 or EU….

 Today Ukrainian ” Tomy ztho Lider ” ( Current Prez. Yanukovich)

while giving major speech in Europe decleared that Golodomor in Ukraine never happen…

 to the delight of Moskow…back to the USSR !

My great respect and gratitude to our PM of Canada  S.Harper

who attended Golodomor memorial in Kyiv -

 honestly and bravely stood up with millions of victims…

He stated it very firm and clear that Golodomor in Ukraine was Genocide …

 And current regime in Ukraine should respect basic human rights and freedoms…

Meanwhile at the same time current prez of Ukraine - “Don” Yanukovich ( “Bandyukovich” )

declearing  Moskow versions of denial and ignorance…
